About Word Trails
Word Trails is a free word connect game you play in your browser, built with Phaser. A 6x6 grid of letter tiles fills the board. Six hidden words are embedded in the grid, and your goal is to find all of them by dragging through adjacent letters to spell each word.
How to play Word Trails?
Press Start Game, then look at the grid of letters. Click or tap a letter tile and drag through adjacent tiles (up, down, left, right, or diagonal) to spell a word. Release to submit. If you accidentally select the wrong letter, drag backwards over the previous tile to remove it from your path.
Six target words are hidden in the grid. Find all six to win. Words can be spelled forwards or backwards, and the letters must be adjacent to each other in a connected path. The target word list is shown on screen so you know what to look for.
Your clear time is tracked automatically. There is no time limit, so you can take your time, but beating your best time gives you a reason to come back.

Tips and strategy
- 1Scan the grid for common letter pairings first. If you see an S next to a T, check if STAR or START is one of the target words, because those combinations are rare and narrow your search fast.
- 2Remember words can be backwards. If you cannot find a word reading left to right, try reading right to left or bottom to top. The game accepts reversed spellings.
- 3Use diagonals. Letters connect in all eight directions, so a word can run diagonally across the grid. Do not limit your search to horizontal and vertical paths.
- 4Drag back to undo a letter instead of releasing. If you pick the wrong letter, slide back over it to remove it from your path, which is faster than starting over from scratch.
